Stardust

I just watched the movie Stardust a few days ago and since then I have watched it atleast another 5 times(and counting)... and boy what a movie it is!! Simply put, it is one of the greatest 'feel good' kinda movie ever made!!

Directed by Matthew Vaughn and released on 10th August 2007, the movie Stardust is based on the book written by Neil Gaiman AND had everything a movie lover would ever want!! It is basically an excellent romantic story set in a fantasy world, but the action, comedy and the excellent background score adds spice to the script and makes it much more interesting!

The story of Stardust is pretty simple. A star has fallen, except, this one is no ordinary piece of celestial rock, but a beautiful maiden(Claire Danes) and she is sought by a young man(Charlie Cox) to prove his love for the village beauty, but he is not the only one going after the star...

Three nasty old witches, also seek the star whose heart, when eaten, restores their youth & beauty, while the three princes of the magical kingdom Stormhold, want to get to her, because she is possession of a ruby which belonged to their late father, The king, and is their key to the throne.

Who succeeds in getting the star, is the rest of the story told in a beautiful manner that romantic fairy tales are meant to be told!!

The entire 'Stardust' cast, led by Michelle Pfeiffer, have given a superb performance and its worth mentioning here that Robert De Niro has gone a step ahead and amused the audience with his brilliant acting even though he appears in just a few scenes... while Claire Danes, does an excellent job at portraying a naive and innocent star!!

There is another important thing, can you guess how many awards Stardust won?? well here is your answer.. this excellent movie has got only one award so far... (source: imdb.com - Stardust - awards) and in my opinion, is the best of the awards it can get, given the current state of things.. here is the award it got..
