Harry Potter stuff

For all the Harry Potter fans out there...

Here are a couple of websites which test your knowledge about the world of Harry Potter are you up for the challenge??
(and don't forget to read the Fan-fiction part below)....

1) 20Q --> In this one you think of literally anything in the world of Harry Potter and the computer will try to find out what you were thinking.. it asks you 20 questions to figure out what you are thinking of and you will have to answer just "Yes/No/Unknown/Irrelevant/Sometimes/Probably/Doubtful"

This is a good way to see what sort of minutest things you can think of Harry's World and also how well you understood it so that you are able to answer the computers questions...

If you manage to beat the system, pat yourself on the back and go have a victory dance..
or if you lose... well, there are always so many other things in his world to try out....

2) Wizard Challenge --> This one is a goodie from scholastic books, this one is more an opposite of 20Q, here the computer asks you a question about something from Harry's world and gives you multiple choices and you have to select the right one... too simple for you? well think again, coz it only offers 3 chances for you to go wrong, after that, its ALL OVER!!

The best part here is the scoring system so if u think u r a Harry Potter maniac, then try and beat the Highest score.. and tell us if u managed to do it!!

3) Fanfiction --> Are you depressed that the Harry Potter series is over?... are you craving for more of Harry Potter? then FAN FICTION is just for you!!
Before the release of Deathly Hallows, there were rumors that the book has been leaked over the internet.. while browsing to see if it was true, i came across these stuff...(and the leaked one is actually just a well written fan-fiction..). Harry Potter Fan-fiction has literally thousands of Harry Potter stories, spread over several sites, with all sorts of imaginary plots based on the original as well as made up characters...

So if you are interested in reading a fan-fiction, here are my suggestions..

* The Seventh Horcrux(as book 7 of the series) by Melindaleo --> This is THE BEST fanfiction i have ever read and is a very good alternative to Deathly Hallows (if u felt disappointed with J.K.R's version that is..) bear in mind that, this was written before the release of the original, so it does not contain anything about the "Hallows"(but is a lot similar to the original one). If not for the mild vulgar language used and some heavy snogging sessions involved between Harry and Ginny, i would have believed this was the original one leaked on the internet.... A must read for anyone wanting more of Harry Potter.

* The Power Of Emotion(as book 6) by Melindaleo --> since i started with Melindaleo, i will cover her works first.. This is the first fan-fiction work by Melinda(and it clearly shows). Anyway, this is still a good read and also has a sequel which is much more better.. also u will need to read this to understand the sequel.

* The Curse Of The Damned(as book 7 & sequel to the above book) by Melindaleo --> Yet another great work by the author, the first 10-15 chapters are a bit dragging but after that it really takes off and is superb!!!

note: The e-books above are full length novels, so for more shorter HP works from this author, visit her website.

* A Stolen Past(as book 6) by nuw255--> This is a lighter plot where Harry Potter loses his memory of his previous 5 years, on reaching Privet Drive after the battle at the ministry and has to go to St.Brutus' for Incurably Criminal Boys to continue education. Now who is responsible for that and what happens next is the main story. You will need to read this to understand the sequel for this story which is once again a better version than this.

* A Past Reclaimed(as book 7 & sequel to the above book) --> Here Harry gets to go back to Hogwarts for his Sixth Year which he missed out, while his memory still fails him, he has to tackle his studies, Snape, Malfoy, Death Eaters and one You-Know-Who. Once again this is just a lighter version so not much of action is there, but still manages to be a good read..

There are many more good ones, but they haven't been completed yet by the respective authors, so if get to know more, i will put it up here..

Harry Potter Games and Samorost 2

note: If you came here looking forward for the Harry Potter part then see this post..

Just as I said in the previous post, let me introduce you to Samorost 2!!

This is a sequel to the famous online game Samorost 1. In the previous game, the little white guy had to save his homeland, in this story however he has to save a dog who has been kidnapped by some Aliens!!. The thing that you should note here, is that, since we are dealing with Aliens, who are ready to abduct creatures just like that, their security will be more tighter, this means that you will have to do A LOT MORE THINKING than you did in the previous version and I mean it!

Comparing it with Samorost 1, it has better graphical designs, better music, more levels and good strategy, and also it gives you a key at the end of every level, so that you can leave the game anytime and then start again from the level you desire..
On the downside the creators of the game have split into two chapters and are offering the first one for free while the second chapter costs around $6.90, thats really sad :-((

Anyway you can still enjoy just the first chapter like me or if you can afford the cost, then you can even go on to complete the game..

Another Online game

First of all, I apologize for not posting anything for over a month now... that was mainly because of my exams and project review preparations, amongst other things... and I'm afraid my tight schedule might continue for some more time....

So anyway, I just thought I would put up something to let you know I am still here..

Samorost (part 1) is another superb online game that I have come across....
(click here to know about the other one).

It is basically a flash game that can be played online(single player only). And is very simple to play, all you have to do is, point to some specific thing on the screen with your mouse and click it... but it is very challenging to figure out what to click and in which order to do it...

It needs a more practical approach rather than using your intelligence, and you also require some amount of patience, if you are using a very slow internet connection.

The storyline is rather simple, a white dwarf guy lives peacefully in space in his comet-like land and is endangered by another similar structure floating in space and has to try and save his homeland, so he invades it and you will be helping him to accomplish his task.

Instructions:
You can start the game by clicking on the small tower on top of the landmass that you see at first. After that it is upto you to figure out how to proceed..(yup there are no more instructions.)

next post will be about Samorost 2 and something good for Harry Potter fans!!
